In 2016, the artworld released Vantablack - the blackest substance in the world. Anish Kapoor bought the exclusive rights to it, and now even though he did not create it he is the only one who can use it. Stuart Semple released PINK (available to all except Kapoor) and thus, the pettiest artworld feud began. I want to create a poster/poster series based off of this feud and have it function as a commentary on elitism and how everyone should be able to make art
I have heard about the vantablack material but I had no idea about the whole dispute between artists to get a hold of such color but coming back to your topic, I am intrigued by the concept and it will be interesting to see what you can come up with.
ReplyDeleteCool concept! What do you imagine your poster(s) will look like?
ReplyDeletehave you thought about including various news articles or headlines to add context to your pieces?
ReplyDeleteI love that a lot! Art is not to be f-ed with. I can imagine text being used in this to display an argument between the two sides.
ReplyDeletelove this idea. Am interested to see how you show everyone should be able to make art in the piece/pieces. Will it be shown more in the middle panel or on all of it.
ReplyDeleteF Anish. Art is for the people. Can't wait to see (or not see) the visuals you come up with. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing ongoing feud in the artworld and would love to be able to get more info on the subject
ReplyDeleteThe idea of a poster baed on an art feud is a pure one; these disagreements/strong emotions have the power to make some very compelling pieces. Drawing on passion and styles from both sides.
